Besides the coach of the women's team, the men's coach John Speraw also has an uncertain future.
Interviewed by Lee Feinswogvolleyballmag.com, Karch Kiraly, after saying he would take a "glamping" vacation with his wife after the Games, talks about his future and, more generally, about his work with the US national team. Both national teams – men and women – reached the podium, but to understand their future leadership, we will have to wait for the appointment of the new CEO of USA Volleyball.
After being an assistant coach in London 2012, Kiraly led the United States in three consecutive Olympics – Rio, Tokyo, and Paris.
"I need to take some time off," Kiraly said, smiling about an hour after the gold medal match ended. "Some time with the wife, some time with the family.
You'll probably go glamping?
"I'd say camping, but we like to tow a trailer and have a strong barrier between us and the bears. Many of my family members were here in France and had a great time. They had a lot of fun in the city and with the people of Paris – it was a great experience. I didn't go to watch other live events, but France certainly organized fantastic games."
When asked if he would continue to coach the US women's national team, Mr. Kiraly said:
"I'd say it's possible," Karch replied. "We have some things to think through. USA Volleyball needs to reflect on some facts. Our great CEO is leaving," Kiraly said, nodding to the present Jamie Davis (his future will be in water polo). "He will complete his commitments at the end of September. Surveys are currently underway, and as far as I understand, USA Volleyball is doing the right thing and waiting to make the right decision before other things are understood, such as who will coach the women and who will coach the men, and whether people like me and John will stay and be liked by everyone."

John is John Speraw. He also was an assistant at the Olympic Games before becoming the men's head coach in 2016. "I think that's a wise move and that it's the right time to allow the new CEO to play an important role in that process."
