Bulgaria national team captain Alex Grozdanov and Polish champions Bogdanka LUK (Lublin) recorded their seventh victory in PlusLiga, after defeating Energa Trefl (Gdansk) at home by3:1 (25:17, 25:18, 27:29, 25:20)in a 10th-round match in front of 4221 spectators.
Match progress by sets
First set:The hosts set the pace from 2:2 and with powerful attacks from Sasak and Leon quickly built a lead. Trefl failed to stabilize their reception and LUK closed the set without a problem at 25:17.
Second set:LUK once again controlled the game with aggressive serving towards Orchik and a well-organized block, including Alex Grozdanov's first block. The visitors were powerless in attack and recorded only two successful hits until the middle of the set, which ended 25:18.
Third set:The Lublin team started strong and pulled ahead 6:2, but improved defense and more effective play by Brand allowed Trefl to catch up. In a hotly contested advantage battle, the visitors snatched the set 29:27 after a decisive serve from Piotr Nowakowski.
Fourth set:At the beginning, the game was balanced, but powerful attacks from Leon and McCarthy's solid block once again tipped the scales towards the champions. LUK controlled the lead until the end and finished the match 25:20 with a full set of points.
