Consoli Sferc Brescia defeated Banca Macerata Fisiomed 3:2 in a dramatic Serie A2 match, despite strong performances from Bulgarian internationals Denis Karyagin and Rusi Zhelev. The visitors played more than half the match with a changed lineup due to an injury to middle blocker Fol, but still took a point and showed character against the league leaders.
Denis Karyagin delivered another strong match, finishing as the top scorer with 27 points, +14, 1 ace, 2 blocks, and 46% attack efficiency. The Bulgarian took on a huge part of the attacking responsibility, especially after Fol's exit, and on several occasions literally kept Macerata in the match. His scores at crucial moments were decisive for winning the first and fourth sets.
Rusi Zhelev contributed significantly with 13 points, +2, 2 aces, and 41% in attack. He started the match powerfully with several successful attacks from zone 4, and in defense, he distinguished himself several times with saved balls that allowed Macerata to organize counter-attacks. After Fol's injury, Zhelev actively took on additional tasks and maintained stability in both attack and reception.

Macerata took the lead after an excellent start and strong play in the first set. Brescia turned the tide with aggressive serving in the second and third, but the visitors reacted and leveled the score after a 23:25 finish in the fourth. The tie-break was dominated by the hosts, who took an early lead and held it until the final 15:10.
Despite the defeat, Macerata showed high competitiveness against the leaders, and Karyagin and Zhelev solidified their status as key figures. The Bulgarian internationals were the engine of the team and the main reason the team took a point in a difficult moment and against a strong opponent. The team occupies 10th place and their next opponent will be the team of Siena, whom Karyagin, Zhelev, and company will host on December 3rd.
