The Spanish giant Guaguas Las Palmas has already arrived in Sofia after a long journey via Gran Canaria and Madrid. The team is accommodated in a capital hotel and, according to plan, should have its first training session tomorrow in the Levski Sofia hall inGeritich Park.
The Blues also have a busy schedule – three club representatives, who are silver medalists from the World Championship in Manila, are expected to attend the prestigious Bulgarian Volleyball Gala Dinner tomorrow, which this year is held under the motto:
TOGETHER TO THE TOP
A Tribute to Legends and Young Champions
During the ceremony, individuals and teams who have left a lasting mark on the development of the most successful team sport in Bulgaria will be honored — among them the Olympic medalists from Moscow 1980 (men and women), the U19 world champions (women), the fourth-placed teams in the world at U21 (women), the men's vice-world champions, as well as their coaches who contributed to Bulgaria's international successes.
The ceremony takes place within walking distance of the hall, which will allow Levski representatives to immediately join the training process after the event concludes.
The Match of Truth – Wednesday, 20:00
The return match between Levski Sofia and Guaguas is scheduled for Wednesday at 20:00 Bulgarian time.
In the first leg, the Spaniards convincingly won 3:0 sets, which presents a very serious challenge for the Bulgarian representative. To reach a "golden" set, Levski must win 3:0 or 3:1, and success in the additional set will determine who advances in the Champions League.
The team eliminated from the third qualifying round will continue its participation in the CEV Cup tournament, which guarantees the team at least one more European front this season.
The Spaniards: "Life of Athletes in the Champions League"
The club's official profile @cvguaguas published the first footage of their arrival:
"First dinner | After half a day of travel – Gran Canaria, Madrid, Sofia – the CV Guaguas expedition is now in its hotel. Life of an athlete in the Champions League."
Before arriving in Sofia, the Spanish champion Guaguas (Las Palmas) recorded a 3:0 (29:27, 25:19, 25:18) victory over Conectabalear (Manacor) in a match from the 5th round of the national championship, while Levski difficultly defeated Beroe Stara Zagora 3:2 (24:26, 25:19, 17:25, 25:23, 15:8) in their last match from the 5th round of the Bulgarian championship.
