Italian coach Andrea Anastasi is on the verge of a new return to the Polish PlusLiga, taking over Hemarpol Częstochowa in place of the released Guillermo Falasca. The news was first reported by journalist Ewa Mac on the X platform (formerly Twitter), who announced that the club had chosen Anastasi to stabilize the season and bring the team back to a winning rhythm.
Falasca, who is Spanish, was released after a tense period and inconsistent results, and the management has decided to bet on a proven name with a rich history in Polish volleyball.
Anastasi's last stop – Piacenza
Before re-appearing in the Polish press's spotlight, Anastasi led Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza in the Italian SuperLega. The two sides parted ways in February 2025, after which the coach became free for a new challenge.
Which Polish clubs he has managed so far
Anastasi is among the most loved and respected foreign specialists who have worked in Poland. He has a strong history with two leading teams:
Lotos Trefl Gdańsk (2014–2019)
Under his leadership, the team won the Polish Cup and Supercup, became vice-champion, and established itself as one of the strongest in the league.Projekt Warszawa (2019–2022)
Anastasi transformed the capital club into a stable force in the PlusLiga and led them to European successes, including participation in the decisive phases of the CEV Cup.
A logical return
His appointment in Częstochowa seems a natural continuation of the Italian school's presence in the team, especially after claims by Polish journalists that the atmosphere around the team has been turbulent in recent weeks. Anastasi brings authority, experience, and respect that can stabilize the situation and provide new impetus in the fight for a better ranking.
The news could be confirmed as early as today, as Hemarpol Częstochowa is visiting PGE GiEK SKRA Bełchatów.
