Brief History and Profile of Burgan SC

Burgan Sport Club was founded in 2007 in the Ali Sabah Al-Salem district. Although it is one of the younger clubs in Kuwait, the organization operates with a clear strategy – to attract experienced foreign players and international coaches, which provides accelerated development for the team.

Burgan SC demonstrates significant growth. The performance in 2024/25 shows that the club is now a lasting factor in local volleyball.

Hristiyan Velikov's New Challenge

After a strong season with CSKA and growth that earned him a call-up to Bulgaria's extended squad, Hristiyan Velikov is embarking on his first foreign challenge. At Burgan SC, he will have the opportunity to play in a league where proven names from Europe and South America compete, which will allow him to develop even further. His contract is until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Bulgarian Trace in Burgan: Teammate Aleksandar Ljaftov

In Kuwait, Velikov will meet a familiar name from our championship – the North Macedonian Aleksandar Ljaftov. The outside hitter played for Hebar Pazardzhik, and last season he was a teammate of the Bulgarian setter Nikolay Kolev in Greek PAOK.
Now the two – Ljaftov and Velikov – will form a strong reception line at Burgan SC.

Hristiyan Velikov's transfer to Burgan Sport Club is a logical step forward – a club with ambitions, stable organization, and a clear vision. The presence of Aleksandar Lyaftov will facilitate his adaptation, and the duo could become crucial for Burgan in the 2025/26 season.
