Spanish CV Guaguas hosts Levski tomorrow in Gran Canaria for the first leg of the Champions League third round in excellent sporting form and with an impressive winning streak in Europe and the local championship. The team has already consecutively eliminated Hungarian MÁV Elore Foxconn and Greek giant Olympiacos, winning all four of its European matches so far.
Their last official test was on Saturday against Pamesa Teruel, where Guaguas asserted their class and won 3:1 in sets as a guest. Their performance showed stable control in key moments and high efficiency in attack – precisely the aspects they will try to use to pressure Levski.
Guaguas' Last Match – Against Pamesa Teruel
| Match | Result | Guaguas' Points |
|---|---|---|
| Pamesa Teruel – CV Guaguas | 1:3 (25-27, 22-25, 25-18, 19-25) | 102 |
The Spaniards won three of the four sets, controlled the tempo, and excelled in attack and block, maintaining their composure in contested moments.
In this last match, the leading scorers for Guaguas were Helder Spencer (13 points), Waly Souza (10), and Thomas Rousseaux (9). They are the main figures Levski needs to watch carefully.
Former national setter Dobromir Dimitrov did not start as a starter this time but is part of the squad and can be used as a weapon during the match against the Bulgarian team. Superstar Osmany Juantorena, although not among the top scorers in Teruel, remains the most serious individual threat with his vast experience and class.

Osmany Juantorena fromAfter Hours, the SuperLega at nightwith Andrea Zorzi and Andrea Brogioni:
“I think Olympiacos didn't expect us to be able to play at such a level, especially at their home. They are a very strong team, with players who have played in Italy and show good volleyball culture, with a well-prepared coach with a lot of experience. In the return leg, I expected Olympiacos to be much more aggressive, but we performed excellently. The goal was to win two sets, and we won 3:0. At the end of the sets, we also had a little luck, but purely in terms of volleyball, we played better; therefore, I believe our qualification was fully deserved.
But nothing is over
– on Wednesday we face Levski Sofia, an unpleasant opponent, and the return match will be in their hall. It would be something truly great to reach the main draw of the Champions League. There, Perugia, Berlin, and Prague await us
– it's not an easy ride, but it's certainly fun.”
Guaguas enters tomorrow's match against Levski on a winning streak, with a strong attack and a solid block. The Spaniards are confident and well "warmed up" by their success over Teruel, but Levski will have a chance to take advantage of the fact that their opponent sometimes allows slumps, as seen in the third set of their last match.
