Two victories for Bulgarians in Serie A2 in Italy

Bulgarian volleyball players competing in Italy recorded their only successes over the weekend in the second tier of the local championship – Serie A2. Corsar Ravenna triumphed in the "Bulgarian" derby against Cantù, while Romero Sorrento with Preslav Petkov in the squad secured the three points at home against Porto Viro. In both matches, the Bulgarian players played a key role in the final success.

Cantù – Ravenna: Bulgarian derby, visitors prevailed

Corsar Ravenna defeated Cantù 3:1 (18:25, 25:19, 19:25, 17:25) in a match that lasted one hour and 40 minutes.
Nikolay Ivanov from the hosts scored 12 points, with 35% positive reception and 55% attack efficiency. For Ravenna, Samuil Valchinov and Manuel Zlatanov added 10 points each – Valchinov with 1 ace, 69% positive reception, and 43% in attack, while Zlatanov had 1 ace, 2 blocks, 71% positive reception, and 41% in attack.
The top scorer in the match was Hristiyan Dimitrov, who finished with 18 points, 2 aces, 3 blocks, and 57% attack success rate. The three Bulgarians in Ravenna's squad played a leading role in their away victory.

Sorrento – Porto Viro: Convincing home victory

Romero Sorrento defeated Porto Viro 3:1 (25:22, 25:22, 23:25, 27:25), and Preslav Petkov had a strong performance. He scored 8 points, made 3 blocks, missed only two out of a total of 14 serves, and finished with 42% in attack.
For Sorrento, Andrea Baldi was the top scorer with 18 points, while for the visitors, Gemma Pinali became the leader in attack with an impressive 24 points.

Thus, after the fifth round, the leading "Bulgarian" clubs are Ravenna with 12 points and 4th position, Sorrento with 7 points in 9th place, Macerata with 4 points in 10th, and Cantù in the last 14th place with only one point.

In the next round, Cantù will visit Taranto, Ravenna will host Lagonegro, Sorrento will visit Siena, and Macerata will host Porto Viro.
