Steaua Bucureștimade a decisive step towards the 1/16 finals of the CEV Cup, after convincingly defeating at home the Azerbaijani sideKhilasedichi Bakuwith a 3:0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-20) in the Mihai Viteazul Hall in Bucharest.

Middle blocker Krasimir Georgiev played an excellent match and was among the most effective for the Romanian team. The Bulgarian finished with 12 points, including 1 ace and 2 successful blocks, and his attack efficiency was impressive — 90% (9 successful attacks from 10 attempts). The second Bulgarian in the squad, Svetoslav Ivanov, did not play this time.

The top scorer for the winners was Rareș Băleanu with 14 points, while for the guests from Baku, Luis Rodríguez scored 20.

With a win in the second leg on November 20, Steaua and Georgiev will secure a spot in the 1/16 finals, where they will face Belgian side Lindemans Aalst. The first match between the two teams is scheduled for January 7, 2026.
