Thanks to the 25-year-old opposite hitter, the Italians achieved six victories to claim the title. Egonu finished the tournament as the second-best scorer with 110 points - 95 attacks, seven blocks, one ace. Participating in her second Olympics, she was particularly crucial in their victory over the United States in the gold medal match, scoring 22 points.

Just over a month ago, she was also recognized as the MVP of the 2024 Volleyball Nations League when she led Italy to first place in the commercial tournament, something that is happening for the second time in three years.

Egonu was one of five Italian volleyball players selected for the Paris 2024 Dream Team - the ideal lineup includes one player from silver medalists United States and another from bronze medalists Brazil.
