Beroe warmed up for the European tournaments with a dramatic victory over CSKA

Beroe defeated CSKA after a spectacular five-set battle in Stara Zagora. The team from Stara Zagora won 3:2 sets (22:25, 25:20, 25:22, 20:25, 15:13) in a match from the third round of the men's Super Volley League. For Miroslav Zhivkov's proteges, this was their second victory in two played matches, while the "Reds" suffered their first defeat of the season after two consecutive wins.

The match started better for the visitors, who, thanks to a run of four consecutive points, took a 7:3 lead and maintained their advantage until the end of the set. Although the hosts closed the gap to 16:15, CSKA held the initiative and won the first set 25:22.

In the second set, the game went point for point until 12:12, after which Beroe scored five consecutive points and took control of the match. Although Todor Kostov brought back the intrigue with good serves for CSKA, the Stara Zagora team held on and equalized the score after 25:20.

In the third set, the hosts were more confident – they took a 10:6 lead and maintained their distance until the end. At 21:16, Beroe closed the set 25:22 and took a 2:1 set lead.

The fourth set was again evenly matched, but this time CSKA showed stronger nerves. The team from the capital made two strong runs of three points each and managed to equalize the match after 25:20, sending the encounter into a tie-break.

The decisive fifth set was a true thriller. At the change of courts, Beroe led 8:7, and at the end of the set, the hosts showed more concentration and will to win, clinching the victory 15:13 and 3:2 sets.
The top scorer for the winners was former "Armeets" Plamen Shekerdzhiev with 15 points, aided by Ivan Latunov (13), Spas Bairev (12), and Jesse Gelansi (11). Reza Beik from CSKA finished with the most points in the match - 20 points. Hamish Hazeldine added 17, Todor Kostov another 12, and Stoycho Nenchev 12, but even their efforts were not enough for the victory.
Martin Mechkarov was chosen as the MVP of the match, having greatly contributed to winning the tie-break.

After this emotional clash, Beroe will turn its attention to the Challenge Cup, where on November 11th at 18:00, they will host Slovakian Slovan (Bratislava) in the 'Ivan Vazov' hall.
