Polish champions Developres Rzeszów confirmed their dominance by winning the Polish Supercup, defeating LKS Commercecon Łódź 3:1 (31:29, 25:17, 24:26, 25:23) in a contested and dynamic final. This was the third trophy for the Rzeszów team in the competition and further proof that the Polish club is in excellent form before the start of the new European season.
The leading scorers for the champions were Laura Heyrman, who recorded 19 points and earned the MVP award, and Julita Piasecka with 15 points, who stood out with crucial blocks. The two attackers were the backbone of Developres in decisive moments when the team managed to break LKS's resistance.
Behind the success is the Spanish specialist César Hernández González – a coach with rich international experience, who is also the head coach of the French women's national team. Under his leadership, Developres plays with high tempo, strong serves, and exceptional defensive organization – a style that brings results both domestically and on the European stage.
An interesting fact is that Maritsa (Plovdiv) has already faced Developres Rzeszów specifically during the 2024/25 season in the Champions League. The Polish team won both matches – 3:1 in Rzeszów and 3:0 in Plovdiv, showing greater squad depth and experience at the highest level.
If Maritsa manages to overcome the Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb, whom they already defeated away 3:0, the Bulgarian team will qualify for Group E, where they will face:
Developres Rzeszów (Poland) – champions and Supercup winners;
Levallois Paris Saint Cloud (France) – an ambitious club steadily developing young talent;
SSC Palmberg Schwerin (Germany) – a traditional powerhouse from the Bundesliga.
Maritsa's first potential match in the group is scheduled for November 26 in Poland against Developres – a team that has already proven it can be a formidable opponent for anyone.
Group E is shaping up to be one of the strongest in the tournament – a mix of Polish power, French technicality, and German discipline. For Maritsa, this will be a new chance to face the European elite and gain more experience against the continent's leading schools.
