Sensational loss for ACH Volley Ljubljana during their visit to Dinamo Bucharest

The ACH Volley Ljubljana team, composed mainly of Slovenian national players, suffered a surprising defeat away to Dinamo București in the first match of the second preliminary round of the Champions League. The Slovenians lost 1:3 (25:21, 18:25, 22:25, 20:25), after failing to maintain their level from the first set and allowing the inspired hosts to turn the score around.

Seven players from the ACH Volley Ljubljana squad participated in the World Championship in Pasay City, Philippines, where Slovenia faced Bulgaria in the group stage. Nevertheless, their star-studded lineup could not cope with the aggressive play of the Romanians.
Bogdan Tănase's protégés played the "match of the season," demonstrating incredible will and team spirit. Although the first set was won by the guests, the Romanian champions responded with an impressive performance in all elements – block, serve, and attack, turning the hall into a true volcano of emotions.
Romanian international Paul Peta was the top scorer in the match with 20 points, contributing decisively to his team's success. Three more of his teammates also finished with double-digit scores, demonstrating excellent attack distribution and defensive stability.

The hero of the evening

Captain Răzvan Mihalcea was named MVP of the match, finishing with 13 points, including 8 blocks (!) – a record for the tournament so far. The team leader led by example and became the main reason for the historic success.

Prospects:

This loss significantly complicates the chances ofACH Volley Ljubljanafor advancing to the third preliminary round in the Champions League. To progress, the Slovenians will need to win the return leg onNovember 13 in Ljubljana, and with a convincing score, to reach a "golden set".

Despite the experience and class of their squad, the Slovenian champion will have to show a much higher level in the home game to keep their chances of participating in the group stage of Europe's most prestigious club tournament.
