VC Dragoman is a debutant in the women's championship "Demax+ League", and the club will also have a senior age girls' team. "On September 14 and 15, we are organizing the first edition of our home tournament "Mayor's Cup" in the town of Dragoman, which will also be the actual opening of our team - said the club's founder Stoyan Stoyanov. - I have the assurance from Mr. Lyubomir Ganev that he will attend and open the tournament."
"We boldly embarked on this project with great desire, after sparking the interest in volleyball among the residents of the town," Stoyanov further explains.
For the first time 2 years ago, Dragoman secured the volleyball hall as a home venue for the women's team of the Hektor club, which from the 2024/2025 season will no longer have a team in the women's division. As a sponsor of Hektor for eight years, Stoyanov decided to found and develop a new local club to leave its mark on the championship.
Mayor Andrey Ivanov supported the project and believes that the development of volleyball in the region is very important. Thus, in addition to football, local children will be able to train another sport at a high level. The hall in Dragoman has a capacity of 320 people, is fully renovated and meets the requirements for hosting professional league matches. The goal is to fill it with local fans at every match. The ambition is to also develop a serious youth academy, where children from Dragoman and the region can get an opportunity for development in volleyball at the highest level.
"I decided to personally take on the project - explained Stoyanov. - The mayor and I want to help develop sports in Dragoman and the region. Children in the area play a lot of sports from a young age, and it's good for them to get interested in volleyball as well. My wife, Filka Stoyanova, will be the president of VC Dragoman. Our family wants to contribute to the development of volleyball in Bulgaria, as my two sons are volleyball players who started their development at UVK Hektor, and that has given them a lot. We will have teams in the women's division, senior age, and we will start with the development of mini volleyball with local children. Our goal is to establish ourselves as a club. The project has a developed five-year development plan. We have sponsors who have promised to help. The first sponsor to back the club is Lyunik, for which we are extremely grateful, because the beginning is the hardest. My family and I also stand behind the club with personal funds and a lot of hard work. We strongly believe that we will develop quality volleyball talents. I want us to become one of the forces in Bulgarian volleyball. We don't have ambitions to be a finalist in the "Demax+ League" from our very first season, but that is one of the long-term goals of the club. First, we need to further develop our players, and for this purpose, I believe we have selected a great staff."
The team's coaches will be Dobromir Lazarov and Nikola Dimitrov. Nikolay Kostadinov is the conditioning specialist. 5 players from UVK Hektor will remain on the team. "We are in talks with various teams to loan us volleyball players - concluded Stoyanov. - In this way, we want to help develop athletes who will one day reach the highest level."
