Volleyball player Erik Röhrs was selected as "Volleyball Player of the Year 2025" in Germany, as part of the Volleyball Awards initiative, jointly organized by the German Volleyball Federation (DVV) and magazineVolleyball Magazine. The voting attracted over 7000 fans, which is a record interest for this poll.
Rising star from Vero Volley Monza
The 24-year-old outside hitter of Vero Volley Monza, where his teammates are Martin Atanasov and Jasmin Velichkov, earned recognition thanks to his impressive performances both at the 2025 World Championship and in the Italian SuperLega. In his second season in Brianza, Röhrs solidified his position as one of the most effective players in the league and became a leader in reception and attack.
"I never thought I would be chosen, I didn't expect this at all," Röhrs shared after the announcement of the results.
Long-time national team member and captain of Germany, Georg Grozer, who finished second in the ranking and is a multiple recipient of the award, commented with respect:
"Erik is already a valuable leader – on and off the court."

Röhrs convincingly leads with 32%, which shows the wide support from German fans and his recognition as the new face of the national team. It is interesting that two Vero Volley players " Röhrs and setter Jan Zimmermann ", are in the top 5, which highlights the collective strength of the team, where Bulgarians Atanasov and Velichkov also have a significant contribution.
