The Management Board of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation is meeting to elect a new coach for the women's national team – there are three candidates

The Management Board of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation is meeting today to choose a new head coach for the Bulgarian women's national team following the resignation of Antonina Zetova.
Immediately after her departure, two candidacies were discussed – that of the former head coach of the national team, Ivan Petkov, and Radoslav Arsov – head coach of Levski Sofia. As of yesterday, however, the candidacies became three.

In an exclusive statement tosportal.bgthe president of the federation, Lyubomir Ganev, revealed that the third name is that of former Bulgaria head coach Marcello Abbondanza, who led the team in the period 2011–2014.

Again, to the same media outlet earlier this month, Ganev was adamant that at this stage, the possibility of appointing a foreigner would not be discussed. In light of the news of the candidacy of the current coach of the Turkish giant Fenerbahçe, it is assumed that the Italian himself contacted the federation to offer his services.

It is not excluded that a final decision may not be made at today's meeting, as the new proposal was received only yesterday, and the members of the Management Board will need time to familiarize themselves in more detail with Abbondanza's program before voting on which of the three names is most worthy to take over the women's national team.
