Giovanni Guidetti resigned after Serbia's quarter-final loss, media in our western neighbor report.
Guidetti took responsibility for Serbia's loss to Italy in the quarter-finals of the Paris Olympic Games. The Serbian women's volleyball team failed to qualify for the Olympic Games semi-finals after losing to Italy 3:0 (26:24, 25:20, 25:20).

"We lost to an opponent who played better than us. We hoped for a medal, now the elimination is not what we wanted. This is a bad result for Serbia. The last match should not take away everything this team has done. Be angry with me, not with the players. They brought a lot of success to Serbia. I am to blame, the volleyball players did not deserve it," Guidetti told reporters in Paris.
Guidetti stated that his contract with the Serbian Volleyball Federation had expired.
"My contract expired, I believe this was my last match. Serbia has many great players, we played good friendly matches. In Paris we didn't play badly, but we also didn't play great," the Italian concluded.
