Two Bulgarians in Steaua begin the battle for the Balkan Club Cup – the winner enters CEV's Challenge Cup

Krasimir Georgiev and Svetoslav Ivanov will start today with the CSA Steaua București team their participation in the Balkan Men's Volleyball Club Cup, which takes place from Friday to Sunday in the city of Kakanj (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

A high-stakes tournament – a spot in the CEV Challenge Cup

Four teams participate in the competition:

  • CSA Steaua București (Romania) – sixth place in Division A1 last season

  • Sport Toto (Turkey) – seventh place in the Turkish Super League

  • OFI Creta (Greece)

  • OK Kakanj 78 (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

The format isround-robin, and the eventual winner will receive not only the trophy, but also the right to participate in this year's edition of the European CEV Challenge Cup tournament.

The schedule is evenly distributed and allows Steaua to build up game rhythm – especially important for new additions Georgiev and Ivanov, who will have to quickly gel with their teammates.
Two Bulgarians – Krasimir Georgiev and Svetoslav Ivanov – will compete with the Steaua București team for a place in Europe, which, in case of a victory in Kakanj, will secure their participation in Challenge Cup– the tournament where the path to the big CEV stages begins.
