MMS announced new programs for 2026 – an opportunity for serious funding for volleyball in Bulgaria

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) has launched an open call for project proposals under four key programs for 2026, aimed at supporting Olympic preparation, high-performance sports, staffing for sports federations, and the development of sports clubs.

The decision opens new opportunities for the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BVF), as well as for all its member clubs in the country. Through these programs, the state provides sustainable conditions for the preparation and development of athletes, aiming to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the training and competitive process in Bulgaria.

🏐 Olympic Program: A Chance for Bulgaria's National Teams

The financial support program for Olympic preparation for 2026 is intended for federations of Olympic sports, such as volleyball.
The BVF can apply for funding for training camps, participation in international tournaments and qualifiers, as well as for ensuring the best conditions for prospective Olympic teams.

Among the priorities are:

  • preparation for the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028;

  • supporting young athletes with potential for Olympic participation;

  • ensuring adherence to anti-doping rules and fair play principles.

The application deadline is 5:30 PM on November 17, 2025.

🏆 High-Performance Sports Program – Funding Opportunity for National Teams

This program is aimed at all Olympic and non-Olympic sports.
For volleyball, this means state support for:

  • the preparation of national teams (men, women, juniors, girls);

  • participation in the League of Nations, European Championships, and qualifiers;

  • expenses for medical, scientific, and analytical services;

  • organizing hosting events and training camps.

Funding will be linked to achieved results and will enable higher international competitiveness for our national teams.

Application deadline – 5:30 PM on November 17, 2025.

👥 Staffing – for coaches, analysts, and specialists

Through the Staffing Program for Sports Federations, funding is provided for coaches, methodologists, analysts, and expert personnel.
For volleyball, this is key, because it will allow:

  • appointment of full-time coaches and specialists;

  • enhancement of qualifications through training and seminars;

  • creation of a unified methodological approach from youth to national teams.

The deadline for submitting projects is also 5:30 PM on November 17, 2025.

🏫 Support for clubs – an investment in the future of volleyball

The Sports Clubs Development Program for 2026 is aimed at creating an effective training and competition process for registered athletes.
Volleyball clubs can receive funds for:

  • salaries of coaches and sports-technical staff;

  • equipment, hall rentals, travel, and participation in championships;

  • programs for attracting new children to the sport;

  • improving interaction between clubs, the federation, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS).

The application deadline is 5:30 PM on December 18, 2025.

📊 Analysis: Real support for Bulgarian volleyball

The new programs of the MYS can become a decisive factor in stabilizing the financial and organizational state of Bulgarian volleyball.
The Federation will have the opportunity to provide systematic training for national team members, while clubs – especially those with active youth academies – will be able to develop young talents in better conditions.

If the funds are utilized purposefully and transparently, 2026 could be a turning point in building a new generation of volleyball players ready to compete for an Olympic quota for Los Angeles 2028.
