Volleyball club Steaua (Bucharest) achieved a difficult but fully deserved 3:1 (24-26, 25-14, 25-21, 25-15) victory over Știința in a Romanian championship match played in the capital's Mihai Viteazul Hall.
The match was marked not only by the impressive comeback but also by the consistent performance of the two Bulgarians in the squad " middle blocker Krasimir Georgiev, who last played for Neftochimic Burgas, and outside hitter Svetoslav Ivanov, who started his professional career at Marek Dupnitsa.
The hosts started hesitantly and lost the first set 24:26, but then completely asserted their will. Under the guidance of Brazilian specialist Marcelo Fronckowiak, Steaua played more aggressively on serve, stabilized their reception, and controlled blocking and defense.
Știința showed character and grit, but the young squad only had eight players in the roster, including a libero, which did not allow for rotations. With accumulated fatigue, the visitors' tempo dropped, and Steaua finished the match convincingly.
Krasimir Georgiev was among the team's most consistent players with 9 points and a positive balance of +7, distinguishing himself with several key blocks and stable play at the net. The Bulgarian demonstrated experience and composure, especially in the third set, when the Romanians managed to stop the opponent's run precisely with his attack through the middle.
New signing Svetoslav Ivanov also left an excellent impression. He finished the match with 13 points (+4) and was among the best in reception and attack.
