Matey Kaziyski: The excitement was great, but on the court only the game remains

After Lokomotiv Avia's victory over Neftochimic Burgas and the team's qualification for the Bulgarian Supercup final, Matey Kaziyski did not hide his emotion about returning to his homeland. For him, the experience of stepping onto a Bulgarian court again was extremely exciting. The excitement was particularly strong before the match, while the team was waiting to enter the court, but the moment the game started, all emotions evaporated, and his focus shifted entirely to technical details and the game.

Kaziyski admitted that it's difficult to make a general assessment of the level of Bulgarian volleyball based on just one match, but he was impressed by the fighting spirit and the opponents' desire to fight for every point. According to him, although the difference with the Italian Superlega is obvious, Bulgarian teams show spirit and motivation that deserve respect. Even though the results seemed one-sided, there were moments in every game where the match could have turned.

The way Lokomotiv demonstrated teamwork also made an impression. In the short two weeks since Matey joined the team, he and his teammates have managed to build a stable connection and a collective spirit that has been evident since last season. Kaziyski himself emphasized that he is impressed by how the guys give their all for every point and approach every moment of the game with emotion.

He spoke with a smile about the idea that his presence raises the level of his teammates, adding with his characteristic modesty that he doesn't believe there's such an "aura of improvement." According to him, they get better because they work hard, train diligently, and play with maximum dedication.

The captain of Lokomotiv explained that after the tournament, an official statement would follow regarding his future and the upcoming transfer to Halkbank (Ankara). He also doesn't hide his joy at the opportunity to play alongside Tsvetan Sokolov again, with whom he previously played in Trento.

Kaziyski's focus is now on the Supercup final, where Lokomotiv will face the Bulgarian champion, Levski Sofia. The volleyball player expects a strong and motivated opponent who will come out with confidence and a desire to win. "And we will be ready to fight accordingly," he concluded, wishing everyone a spectacular and high-quality match.
