Francesco Cadeddu: "We played worse, but the season is long - the real goals are ahead of us"

Neftochimic's head coach, Francesco Cadeddu, accepted the defeat calmly, with the clear understanding that his team simply wasn't at the opponent's level in this match. He emphasized that it doesn't matter whether you play at home or away, because everything comes down to the quality of execution – in serving, receiving, and attacking. According to him, Neftochimic lost because they played weaker in all three aspects, while the opponent showed a tighter and more balanced game.

Cadeddu praised the opponents, noting the good performance not only of Matei but of the entire team, which he believed acted as a true collective. For the Italian coach, this defeat is normal for the start of the season when the team is still finding its rhythm. "We need to push harder in serving, but also take risks in attack. We didn't do that today," he said.

The coach admitted that the fans' expectations for a more contested match and a chance for the final were justified, but reality showed otherwise – the opponent was simply better on that particular day. He reminded that Neftochimic's squad has new players, which makes building automatism and mutual trust a difficult and slow process. "We changed the entire starting six and half the reserves. It's not easy to play exactly how you want right away," Cadeddu explained.

Regarding the upcoming season, he stated that the team's true goals are set for January and the playoffs at the end of the campaign. "The season is long; it doesn't end in a week or a month. We have time to build what we are looking for. But we need to work, and work hard," the coach concluded.
