European champion Darina Naneva will play for Jedinstvo Stare Pazove in Serbia. This became clear after a meeting between the mayor of Maritsa Municipality, Dimitar Ivanov, and Naneva, reported on the municipality's Facebook page. It was also announced there that at the next session of the municipal council, the talented volleyball player will receive an award from the Municipality.
14-year-old Darina Naneva, who won the U18 European Women's Volleyball Championship with the national team, was welcomed in Maritsa Municipality by Mayor Dimitar Ivanov. The young volleyball player from Skutare also received the award for best middle blocker of the championship, which our national team won after defeating Belgium 3-0 in sets, recording a historic European title for Bulgarian volleyball.
Darina Naneva was also the top scorer in the final with 14 points. Additionally, she scored the winning point of the match. "I am proud of you that we have young people who glorify the name of both Bulgaria and our Maritsa Municipality. I am sincerely happy for you that as young athletes, you have achieved much more than us, who have national titles. This shows that Maritsa Municipality has a future and continues to produce talents, both in sports, music, and other fields. We have done a lot over the years – halls and sports fields, where you – the young residents of 'Maritsa' can play and train, because you are the future of our municipality. I wish you, above all, good health, no injuries, and you already have the talent. I read that you were chosen as the best middle blocker. Keep going in that direction!" Dimitar Ivanov joyfully declared.
Darina Naneva informed the mayor that from the new season she will play in the Serbian Volleyball League for the team of "Jedinstvo" (Stara Pazova). "After the European title, the Serbian team was very persistent in wanting to sign me. They offered me good conditions, and I accepted. I had offers from Italy – "Mega Volley" and "Imoco Volley" (Conegliano), and from teams in France, but what "Jedinstvo" offered meets my requirements. We are culturally close, the languages are similar, and I will acclimatize to the team better. After all, Serbia is close, and I will be a starter, unlike in Italy or France. For my development, it's much better, because in "Maritsa," I learned everything I needed to. I won quite a few titles, and now I'm going there to develop myself. I have time ahead of me. I've been on the court in "Maritsa" since second grade," shared the beautiful volleyball player. She hopes to continue winning other titles for Bulgaria with this national team, and Dimitar Ivanov wished her: "I am sure that one day you will be the captain of the Bulgarian women's team and you will be the captain who brings us a world and European title. I wish it to you from the bottom of my heart! You deserve it!" Mayor Ivanov added that he traditionally supports talented athletes and young people in Maritsa Municipality. At the Municipal Council session on August 27, he will propose an award for Darina Naneva. The girl thanked him and stated that she would not be able to attend the session because she had to leave for Serbia to join "Jedinstvo's" training.
The meeting was also attended by the Chairperson of the Municipal Council - Maritsa, Violeta Hristodoulova, for whom the day was emotional, as Darina was her student at the school in Rogosh, where she witnessed her first steps in sports. "It is an honor for me to congratulate Darina – a competitor of the Bulgarian national girls' volleyball team, who became clear European champions. To shake the hand of the 'Best Middle Blocker' in volleyball, part of the 'Ideal Team,' is an exceptional privilege!" said Hristodoulova, wishing the young volleyball player success and confidence that these are only the first big victories in her journey forward in sports and in life.

The beautiful volleyball player is the daughter of famous basketball players – Radostina Slavova-Naneva and Ilko Nanev, who have won prestigious titles for their teams. Her mother is a basketball coach for children from first to fourth grade, whose sessions are held in the gymnasium of "Dr. Petar Beron" school, and her father has a private business.
