The US team won 3:1 (26:24, 28:30, 25:19, 25:19) against the Brazilian team in the last quarterfinal of the men's volleyball tournament at the Paris Olympics. Matthew Anderson scored 20 points (3 blocks), DeFalco added 16 (1 block).

Alan Souza recorded the most points for Brazil - 16 (2 blocks), and Lucarelli finished with 15 (2 blocks and 1 ace).

The USA had more attacks (66 to 56), blocks (eight to seven), and points from serves (four to three) than the Brazilians, while both teams made an equal number of errors (26).
After an early exit at the Tokyo Games, the Americans managed to qualify for the semifinals and will play for a medal. This was not an easy feat, as they faced the Brazilian team. The Yankees split two almost identical sets with the 'seleção' before taking control of the match and closing it out 3:1.
This will be the Americans' seventh semifinal in 13 Olympic appearances, from which they have won five medals.
Brazil, on the other hand, will be out of medal contention at the Games for the first time since Sydney 2000. The South Americans have five consecutive semifinals, from which they have won four medals.
After the match, captain Bruno Rezende announced that this was his last game with the national team. The son of coach Bernardo Rezende has three Olympic medals in his showcase (gold in Rio 2016, silver in Beijing 2008 and London 2012).
"I definitely didn't want it to end this way, but I leave peacefully, knowing that I gave my all while I was here," the setter said. "It's sad to finish like this, but we fought to the end and did everything possible to win today. With everything I've been able to win and experience in almost 20 years with the national team, I definitely can't complain about anything."

The men's semifinals will take place on Wednesday, with Poland and the United States first meeting at 4:00 PM local time (2:00 PM GMT), and the duel between France and Italy being the second match, scheduled for 8:00 PM local time (6:00 PM GMT).
