Jesi.One of the young Bulgarian talents, Daniel Tanev, son of the legendary athlete Toni Zetova, will continue his development within the structure of Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza. The news was confirmed in a conversation with Hristo Zlatanov – a long-standing director of the club and one of the leading figures in the organization.
🔴 Part of Piacenza's new generation
After a successful trial period and participation in control matches in September, including the test against the elite team Valsa Group Modena, Daniel Tanev impressed the staff of You Energy Piacenza B.
The teenager, born in 2008, had the opportunity to train alongside players from the Under 17 and Under 19 youth formations, led by coaches Nikola Agricola, Carlo Miselli, and Matteo Antonucchio.
📅 Season Start – Serie C and D
The club from Emilia-Romagna begins the new season with two teams in the regional championships – Serie C and Serie D.
The Serie C team, led by Matteo Antonucchio, debuted on October 11 in the hall"Bombonera"in San Martino in Rio against AMA VBSM from Reggio Emilia.
The Serie D squad, led by Massimo Piazzi, started a day earlier – on October 10, as a guest of Polisportiva Baganzola in Parma.
These two squads represent the backbone of Piacenza's academy structure, allowing young volleyball players to gain match experience against experienced regional teams. Tanev will most likely start the season in one of these teams, which will provide him with consistent game practice and adaptation to the Italian style of volleyball.
💬 Confirmation from Hristo Zlatanov
In a personal conversation with Hristo Zlatanov, former captain of Italy and current sports director of Piacenza, it was confirmed that Daniel Tanev will remain within the club's structure.

"He is talented, works with desire, and is already part of our system. We will continue to develop him in Piacenza's youth divisions," Zlatanov told VolleyVееk.

Tanev's stay in Italy is a valuable step forward – not only for him but also for Bulgarian volleyball. The son of Toni Zetova continues to build his own identity in the sport that brought fame to his mother and is now part of one of Italy's most strongly structured clubs.
The Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza Academy is known for its modern methodology and excellent specialists, and participation in Serie C or D will be his first real season at the men's level of the Italian system.
