Strong start for Asparuh Asparuhov in the friendly matches of Slepsk Malov Suwalki

PlusLiga is on the threshold of the new season, and Bulgarian national player Asparuh Asparuhov is already attracting attention with his performances in the control matches of his new club, Ślepsk Malow Suwałki. After a season in Russia, the outside hitter begins his second stint in Poland, having played for Stocznia Szczecin in 2018/2019. Now he is once again part of PlusLiga, where he seems ready to become one of the leading players for coach Dominik Kwapisiewicz's team.

A win and a draw against AZS Olsztyn

Ślepsk played two control matches against Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, with the team from Suwałki winning the first match 3:1 (34:32, 16:25, 25:18, 25:21), and the second, played a day later, ending in a 2:2 draw. The matches served as an important test before the start of the championship, and Asparuhov distinguished himself with consistency and activity in attack.

The Bulgarian finished with 12 points, demonstrating stable effectiveness in attack and confidence in reception. This is a significant result for his first official test with his new club – Asparuhov fits well into Kwapisiewicz's system, contributing both in attack and defense.

The second control match – a test of depth and synchronization

A day later, the teams met again, this time the result was 2:2 (26:24, 27:29, 21:25, 25:18). The coaches made numerous rotations, testing different starting six lineups.

The two control matches confirm that Ślepsk Malow Suwałki is entering the season confidently, and Asparuh Asparuhov is already establishing himself as a key figure in the team. With balanced play, leadership behavior, and accumulated international experience, the Bulgarian shows that he feels comfortable in the Polish environment – five years after his first stint in PlusLiga.

Ślepsk's next test will be participation in the Józef Gajewski Memorial (October 16–17) in Suwałki, where opponents will be Barkom-Kazhany (Lviv), Inpost HKS (Chełm), and the Estonian vice-champion Barrus Võru VK – the final dress rehearsal before the start of PlusLiga.
