Rado Parapunov will play in the Champions League, signing with German club Helios Grizzlys Giesen

Radoslav Parapunov is the next Bulgarian playing abroad who has a chance to compete in the Champions League in volleyball. This is made possible thanks to the diagonal's transfer to the German team Helios Grizzlys Giesen.

With the signing of Parapunov, Helios GRIZZLYS Giesen found an adequate replacement for the opposite hitter position, after their starter - Michiel Ahy - moved to another club.

The 27-year-old Bulgarian fills the roster for the First Volleyball Bundesliga as the twelfth player. The Bulgarian national has already moved into his apartment in Hildesheim last weekend.
The 2.05-meter tall Parapunov began his volleyball career at CSKA-Sofia. Between 2017 and 2021, he studied in the United States at the University of Hawaii, which is internationally known for its successful collegiate volleyball team. Top players like Taylor Averill and Joe Worsley have passed through Hawaii. After graduating college in 2021, the Bulgarian moved to Serbia and played for Champions League participant Vojvodina Novi Sad for two seasons, before moving to Shahdab Yazd in Iran last season as the only foreigner on the team.
GRIZZLYS head coach Itamar Stein has a high opinion of the 27-year-old opposite hitter: "I am very happy that we were able to get such a good player as Rado. He is, above all, an exceptional athlete and a great competitor, plus he matches the team's DNA. Rado has a strong left hand and is very good at blocking and serving. He is very motivated and wants to test his skills in the Bundesliga and the Champions League," the coach shared with the local press.

Helios Grizzlys Giesen (GER) are in Champions League Group B, which includes Vero Volley Monza (ITA) and Fenerbahçe Medicana Istanbul (TUR).
