Serious changes await the teams in the Italian SuperLega Credem Banca during the 2025/26 season. The most significant novelty is the introduction of the ".15-second service rule,". which officially comes into force after successful tests in the Italian Cup tournament. This was announced by the press center of Lega Pallavolo Serie A.
According to the new regulation, the serving player has 7 seconds to get into the service zone and another 8 seconds to execute the serve. If the time limit is not observed, the team loses the point. The rule aims to speed up the game's pace, increase its spectacularity, and facilitate television broadcasts.
Additionally, there will be a change in court switches ". they will now only occur after the second set, and in a tie-break, in the middle of the decisive set, if necessary.
The new rules were presented during the traditional meeting between Serie A club coaches and the Refereeing Commission of the Italian Federation (FIPAV). The online event was opened by League President Massimo Righi and CEO Fabio Fistetto, in the presence of representatives from all 47 Serie A clubs.
Among the topics discussed were clarifications on positional fault, blocking fault, and double touch, which follow the new FIVB guidelines, already tested in the Nations League and the World Championship.
"The introduction of the 15-second rule will bring a new element of innovation and raise the level of the show in our championship," commented Fabio Fistetto.
