Preslav Petkov with first points in Italy and a strong performance for "Romeo Sorrento"

Romeo Sorrento's team won the traditional 'Rolando Di Meo' memorial after two 2:1 victories – first against Gaia Napoli, and then against Virtus Aversa, where his 'Levski' teammate Gordan Lyutskanov played last season. The tournament gathered the three leading teams from Campania and offered high-level volleyball in front of packed stands at Palayaccaci.

Of particular interest was the debut of World Championship silver medalist Preslav Petkov, who scored his first points in Italian volleyball. In the decisive match against Virtus Aversa, the Bulgarian player appeared in the game at key moments – first in the dramatic end of the first set, and then in the third, when he scored his first point in Serie A2. His appearance brought momentum to the attack and helped Sorrento turn the score around after falling behind.

After a strong match, won 2:1 (29:27, 16:25, 29:27), the hosts deservedly lifted the trophy. Stefano Patriarca, who also played in the Bulgarian championship as a player for Burgas' Dea, was the top scorer with 12 points, and Russo was chosen as MVP for his excellent performance in reception and saved balls in defense.

For Petkov, the tournament was a successful start to his Italian adventure and a promising sign for the upcoming season.
