The husband of a former Bulgarian national player takes over a team from the Czech Republic

Husband of former Bulgarian national team player Radostina Chitigoi - Cristian Chitigoi, takes over a team from the elite Czech championship. The former coach of Rapid (Bucharest) signed a contract during the World Volleyball Championship with the team of TROX Pribramit - a club from the first division of the local championship. For the 47-year-old specialist, this will be his second challenge abroad, after leading the Greek Athlos Orestiadas two seasons ago, with which he finished in fifth place.

Chitigoi returned to Rapid last summer – a team he also coached during the 2022/2023 season. Under his leadership, the team won the Romanian Supercup, a triumph achieved exactly a year ago – on September 29, 2024. However, after this success, the team showed inconsistency in the championship, alternating spectacular victories with unexpected losses.

Chitigoi's new challenge is not only professional but also at an even higher sports level – the Czech Superliga is on the rise, and six of the players who won fourth place at the World Championship in Manila play in it this season.
Cristian Chitigoi is the father of Romanian national player Daniel Chitigoi, considered one of the promising young names in European volleyball. Daniel participated with the Romanian team in the past World Championship in the Philippines.

Chitigoi's first official match on the TROX Pribramit bench will take place on October 23, when the team will host Aero Odolena Voda. This will be the first test for the Romanian specialist's new project – with the ambition not just to participate, but for a strong presence in the battle for the top positions in the Czech Superliga. Nikolay Kartev also played there for one season, becoming champion with VK Lvi Praha.
