Serbia completed a full comeback against Canada in a protocol match of the Olympic volleyball tournament in Paris, overtaking the "Maple Leafs" by one spot in the FIVB world rankings. The "Blues" were two sets down before rallying to turn the score in their favor 3:2 (16:15, 22:25, 26:24, 25:19, 18:16).

The Canadian trio of Maar - 28 points (2 blocks, 4 aces), Loeppky - 20 points (1 block, 1 ace), and Szwarc - 14 points (1 block) was more productive than Atanasijevic - 19 points (5 aces), Ivovic - 17 points (3 aces), and Kujundzic - 14 points (1 block).

The difference was made by veteran Podrascanin - 8 points (2 aces), Luburic - 6 points, and Nedeljkovic - 5 points (3 blocks).

This was enough for the Serbs to gain the upper hand over Tuomas Sammelvuo's boys, who played the match without receiving support from their reserves.
Thus, Serbia gained 6.87 points for the world rankings and became 10th with 259.26 points, while Canada fell to 11th position with 254.46 points.
