The young Bulgarian outside hitter Daniel Tanev, born in 2008, appeared on the roster of Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza during the friendly match against Valsa Group Modena played on Saturday. Photos from the scrimmage clearly show that the Bulgarian volleyball player was part of the Piacenza group, which raised questions about his status.

Daniel is the son of the legendary player and current head coach of the women's national team, Antonina Zetova. The 208 cm tall talent is already part of Bulgaria's youth national teams and is considered one of the promising names of his generation.

According to the rules of the Italian Federation (FIPAV), clubs can use young players through the so-called 'tesseramento in prova' – a temporary registration which allows participation in training sessions and scrimmages, without implying a signed contract. It appears Tanev is in precisely such a regime, as official information about his transfer is missing both in the media and in international databases.
It appears that Tanev's presence in Italy is not part of the agreement between Levski and Lube Civitanova, thanks to which Bulgarian talents from the 'blue' team can get a chance for summer camps. This strengthens the version that it is an individual initiative, rather than a club program.

Piacenza has already announced that they are making a new selection for their youth sector, opening spots for talents from outside the region. This provides additional context for the Bulgarian's inclusion in the group – the club is looking for fresh additions who can develop within their system.
A key figure in the management of Piacenza is Hristo Zlatanov, son of the legend Dimitar Zlatanov. It is entirely possible that his presence facilitated the tryouts for the Bulgarian talent.
So far, there is no official confirmation that Daniel Tanev has permanently moved to the Piacenza structure. However, it is a fact that he was on the court and in the group photo (next to Bovolenta) from the scrimmage with Modena. All signs indicate that this is a trial stay with temporary registration – a chance that could turn into a real transfer if the young outside hitter convinces the management of his qualities.
