Slovenian internationals: The Bulgarians surprised us with a powerful start, lack of concentration and a little luck cost us the victory.

After the dramatic five-set battle between Bulgaria and Slovenia, which ended in a victory for the "Lions", the Slovenian national players shared their impressions. Fabio Soli's players acknowledged the superiority of the Bulgarians in the first two sets, spoke about their own mistakes and missed opportunities, as well as the lack of luck in crucial moments. Here's what they said after the match:

Jani Kovačič, Slovenia national player:
In the first two sets, the Bulgarians played excellent volleyball, which we can equate with some of the best performances, and it was really difficult to play against them because they touched every ball – both on block and in defense. After that, we also started playing a bit smarter, and the match turned around; we started playing our own game. We were close to victory, but today the Bulgarians had a bit more luck.

Jan Kozamernik, Slovenia national player:
Today's result hurts. From our side, the approach and entry into the match were not right. At such a level, unfortunately, we cannot afford this if we want to win such matches. A turnaround followed, and good play, when we stood together on the court, gave energy, and played beautiful volleyball. With this, we successfully limited the Bulgarians, because in the first two sets, they played volleyball that we allowed them to play. In the fifth set, there were many missed opportunities. Unfortunately, in the end, victory goes to the one who is more composed in such moments. We started the fifth set well, but in the end, it just wasn't enough.

Žiga Štern, Slovenia national player:
We have a physically tough match behind us. In the first and second sets, we went for an aggressive game against the Bulgarians, but it didn't bring us results. We had warned about their aggressiveness and height. When we started playing our game in the third set, we tightened our ranks, played smartly, and kept the ball on our side. We also improved our serve, and overall, everything became much easier. I see many positive things, it's just a shame about that weak start. In the end, we also lacked a bit of luck to secure two points. I hope that in the next match against Germany, everything will be much better.
