At the World Volleyball Championship in the Philippines, the Qatar team managed to take a set against the favorite Netherlands in a Group B match played in Quezon City. The
Tulips
still reached a 3:1 victory (25:18, 25:23, 26:28, 25:23), but the Qataris showed character and left an excellent impression.
| It is interesting that the former Bulgarian youth national Borislav Georgiev, who has been playing as a setter for the Qatar national team for years, played the whole match. The 33-year-old Georgiev scored a total of 3 points - 1 in attack and 2 from block. | Match Statistics | Statistics |

Achy was the leader of the 'Tulips', but J. Oglaf also impressed for Qatar, almost single-handedly keeping the team in the third game.
Although they lost, Qatar demonstrated that they can be a factor in the group, especially with their will and energy. For the Bulgarian audience, the curiosity remains about the performance of Borislav Georgiev, who long ago chose to defend the colors of another national team, but continues to remind us of himself on the big stage.
