Velichkov debuts for Monza: successful test against Milan

MINT Vero Volley Monza's first friendly match of the season ended with a 3-2 set victory over Allianz Milano. The match was held in the hallCentro Pavesi Fipavand offered valuable tactical guidance to head coach Massimo Eccheli in the course of preparation.

In the absence of the national team players, Monza started with a lineup: opposite Kneipe – Padar, centers Ciampi and Larizza, young outside hitters Velichkov and Frascio, and libero Scanferla.

The special thing about this friendly match was that all sets were played to 15 points, which allowed for more intensive rotation and rapid changes in game situations.

The Bulgarian talent Velichkov received the trust of coach Eccheli and left a strong impression. He distinguished himself with a stable reception and decisive attacks at the end of the fourth set, when his successful attack closed the set at 16-18 for Monza.
Monza managed to turn the match around after a difficult start. The third and fourth sets were especially important, where the young outside hitters Velichkov and Frascio established themselves as reliable in attack and brought calmness in the key moments. Despite losing the tie-break, the Brianza team demonstrated resilience and potential.

The match showed good readiness of the team in rotations and allowed the staff to assess the effect of the summer preparation. The team seems to be in good condition and with an expanded bench, which gives hope for equal competition during the season.

The SuperLega will start on October 19, when Monza will visit the champion Sir Susa S.Cai Perugia - a real test for the team's capabilities from the first round.
