VakıfBank coach Giovanni Guidetti underwent planned hip replacement surgery this morning. The news was officially announced by the club, which stated that the intervention was successful and the coach remains in hospital under observation. Guidetti, who was previously the coach of Bulgaria and is currently the coach of Canada, waited until the end of the World Championship in Thailand to enter the hospital.
The club's statement emphasizes:
“Following the successful operation, he remains in hospital under observation. Our head coach's general health condition is good and his treatment is continuing as planned.”
Guidetti was visited in the first hours after the intervention by his VakıfBank players, including the RussianMarina Markova, who is also part of the Turkish giant this season.
The presence of the players is another sign of the strong bond between the coach and the team, as well as the great respect for the figure of Giovanni Guidetti, who has been among the most successful coaches in world women's volleyball for more than a decade.
The club concludes its announcement with a wish for its coach's speedy return:
“We wish Giovanni Guidetti a speedy recovery.”
