Brazil with bronze after a dramatic tie-break, Gabi with 35 points

With a lot of emotions and a true volleyball drama, Brazil won the bronze medals at the Women's World Championship 2025. Just 18 hours after the painful loss to Italy in the semi-finals, the South Americans showed character and prevailed over Japan with a 3:2 (25:12, 25:17, 19:25, 27:29, 18:16) victory in Bangkok. The chief referee of the match was Bulgarian Ivaylo Ivanov, who officiated the tense clash with authority and composure.

The fourth set turned into a true drama. The Brazilians led 6:1, but the Japanese made a comeback. After a disputed rally, where a video replay showed a net touch by Japan, the score was reset to 24:24. Nevertheless, the "Samurai girls" imposed their will and equalized the sets after a 29:27 win.

The tie-break brought even more tension. Brazil started with 5:2, but Japan turned it around to 10:9 and reached two match points. At the most crucial moment, Gabi once again led her team, and Kudyes' block brought the final 18:16 and bronze for "Seleção".
