U16 European champion Viden Natsev tried beach volleyball while on vacation, part of which he is spending on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The initiative came from his CSKA coach, Neven Neshev, who is one of the doyens of "sand volleyball" in Bulgaria. The two met at Arapya beach, as Neshev is relaxing in nearby Primorsko. Neshev managed to persuade Viden and his brother Krasimir to participate in the tournament in Arapya. The new French volleyball tandem agreed to enter the competition, with the brothers emphasizing that they were participating more for pleasure. The Natsevs played two unsuccessful matches, the last of which was lost with a very tied tie-break. "They wanted to play with their brother, they played, tomorrow we're at the beach!" explained their father, Natsev Sr., with a smile. He clarified that Viden Natsev Jr. maintains excellent relations with his former coach Neven Neshev, with whom they won the title last year with the CSKA team.
