As of September 1, 2025, Chief Assistant Professor Dr. Nikola Dimitrov —assistant coach of the Bulgarian national U19 men's team, which ranked sixth at the World Championship in Tashkent—assumes a new leadership role in education. He has been appointed acting Vice-Rector of the University of Insurance and Finance (UIF).
Two-way mission – sports and education
Dimitrov is well-known in the Bulgarian volleyball community. In recent years, he has combined an academic career with coaching practice, developing young talents in clubs and national teams. Since the establishment of the 'Lion Hearts' VA, he has inspired adolescents to be disciplined, brave, and to act as leaders – not only on the court but also in life.
His appointment at UIF is a recognition of this philosophy: that in both sports and education, the goal is to create leaders – and not just graduates or competitors.
Experience and Achievements
Nikola Dimitrov's career is rich and multifaceted:
National U19 team (men) – assistant coach (2024–2025), with participation in the World Championship in Tashkent and a prestigious sixth place.

Women's club volleyball – worked as an assistant coach and head coach at Levski Sofia, VC Dragoman, as well as with the national U17 and U20 girls' teams.
