On September 6, 2025 (Saturday), the sports hall in the village of Chuprene, Vidin region, will host a memorial tournament dedicated to the memory of Vencislav Todorov – a former setter for VC CSKA and the Bulgarian national team.
Todorov was a key figure in the golden generation of Bulgarian volleyball, which, under the leadership of Brunko Iliev, brought home the only European title for juniors to date, won in 1986 in Pazardzhik.

The program combines the symbolism of continuity – young talents will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of their idols, and then the veterans will take to the court to bring back memories of the glorious years of Bulgarian volleyball.

Legends reunite
The event will be honored by a number of iconic names in the history of the national team:
Lyubomir Ganev
Nikolay Ivanov
Borislav Kyosev
Dimo Tonev
Nayden Naydenov
All of them were teammates and friends of Vencislav Todorov and will participate in the special veterans' match.
The man who turned the game into a calling
The initiative for the tournament comes both from Todorov's relatives and the local municipality. The idea is not just to organize a sporting event, but to create a living memory for a person who left a deep mark in Bulgarian volleyball.
The tournament is an expression of gratitude and respect – simultaneously a tribute to the past and an inspiration for the future.
