Dejan Ninov, a member of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BVF), fulfilled his intention, announced days ago, and officially submitted a request for the resignation of Nikolay Ivanov, coordinator of the national teams at the BVF. The main reason is the poor performance of the women's national team at the recently concluded World Championship, where Toni Zetova's team recorded three consecutive losses and finished in 27th place – the worst ranking in Bulgaria's history at a World Cup. Only the two games won saved the team from the bottom of the standings.
Immediately after Bulgaria's last match at the World Cup, in which the national team suffered a fiasco against Spain, Ninov published a criticism of the BVF on his personal Facebook profile:
"In the organization of collective irresponsibility, it is high time for the BVF to take responsibility... As a member of the Board, on Monday I will submit a request for the resignation of the coordinator of the national teams because of this disgrace, along with my arguments for its demand."
Today, the request has been officially submitted and is accompanied by nearly three pages of reasons. Ninov emphasized that his reasons are not limited solely to the women's poor performance, but also to the way the coordinator has fulfilled his duties in recent years.
