Bulgaria recorded a fifth loss in the Nations League, this time we fell to Olympic champions USA

The Bulgarian women's national volleyball team recorded its fifth defeat in the Nations League. Coach Lorenzo Micelli's girls lost to the Olympic champion USA with0:3 (17:25, 22:25, 22:25)in their second match in Group 4, of the second week of the League, which was played in Arlington (USA). Thus, the Bulgarian "lionesses" remain in the last 16th place in the interim overall standings with 1 win, 5 losses, and 2 points. Karch Kiraly's players maintained concentration throughout the match and won the game without problems, thus earning their fourth success in the world tournament. With 2 losses and 12 points, they occupy the sixth position in the table. Against the champion from Tokyo 2020, Bulgaria played two almost equal sets, even leading the score at times. An improvement was noted in the serve-block axis, which prompted coach Lorenzo Micelli to state after the match: "I see good things in our performances. We have nothing to lose, everyone would want to play against the Olympic champion." The most effective player for the "lionesses" was Iva Dudova with 11 points, including 4 from blocks, captain Mira Paskova added 8 points, while Maria Krivoshiyska and Maria Yordanova each contributed 7 points. According to statistics, we performed better in reception, even making fewer errors than our opponent. For the Americans, Avery Skinner finished with 19 points.
Bulgaria's next match is on June 2, again at 04:00 AM, when our girls will face world champion Serbia for their third match in the tournament in Arlington.
