Germany sent Argentina home, a catastrophic first set for the "Gauchos", Canada also out of the Games

Germany sent the bronze medalists from Tokyo 2020, Argentina, home after decisively beating them 3:0 (13:25, 21:25, 21:25). De Cecco and company did not know where they were in the first game, which they lost catastrophically. Facundo Conte failed in attack (1/9), and Jan Martinez made three reception errors and was replaced at 5:13. In this set, opposite Georg Grozer scored 10 points - 7 of 9 in attack, two blocks, and one ace. The "Gauchos" managed to recover from the shock but could not do more than 21 points per set. Not a single player from Argentina's team managed a double-digit score in points. For Germany, veteran Grozer was above all, scoring 16 points (4 blocks and 1 ace), Maurice Karlitzek added 13 (2 blocks and 3 aces). Despite more unforced errors than Argentina, the Germans outperformed their opponent in blocking and serving (9 point blocks and 9 aces).
