Serbia breathed a sigh of relief after the news from Thailand, where team star Tijana Bošković suffered an injury during a match. Additional medical examinations have shown that a fracture diagnosis has been ruled out, and it is a sprain of the right ankle and stretched ligaments.
"Tijana has already been included in the rehabilitation process and has started physiotherapy. It's not easy to make predictions, but the goal is for her to be ready for the quarterfinals," commented national team doctor Dr. Aleksandrić to the Serbian Federation's website.
Bošković will miss the last match of Group H against Japan on August 27, and it is also unlikely that she will play in the round of 16 on August 29 against Thailand or the Netherlands. However, all hopes are directed towards the key matches on September 3 and 4, when the quarterfinals will be played.
For Serbia, the participation of their captain and leader is crucial, and the staff is doing everything possible for her to appear on the court precisely then.
