The European Refereeing Commission (ERC) of CEV conducted a second specialized training for new Referee Coaches, as a continuation of the initiative launched in January. The program's goal is to prepare experienced referees to take on a key role in identifying, evaluating, and training young and promising referees, in line with the ERC's vision – for volleyball to be increasingly dynamic, attractive, and close to a young audience.
The seminar took place in Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia, with established names in international refereeing as lecturers – Canadian Guy Bradbury and Milan Labasta from the Czech Republic, an ERC member and FIVB instructor.
Among those who successfully completed the course are three well-known former international referees –Alexander Vinaliev (Bulgaria), Chairman of the Refereeing Commission at BFV, Boris Kolarevic (Serbia) and Epaminondas Gerotodoros (Greece). From January 2026, they will officially have the status of CEV Referee Coaches and will actively work for the development of the next generation of arbiters.
