All matches from the first day of the World Cup have been played, results and temporary standings

The first day of the Women's Volleyball World Championship concluded with four group stage matches. The results brought expected victories for the favorites, but the statistical data shows interesting highlights in each team's performance.

Brazil - Greece 3:0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-16)

Brazil built its victory on a stable attack - 49 successful points against 32 for Greece. The South Americans also excelled in blocks (9 against 6), and serves (3 aces against 0). In digs, the advantage was again for Brazil - 62 against 43. Individually, Gabi finished with 18 points, and Bergmann added 16. For Greece, Anthouli scored 18, while Baka remained with 5.

USA - Slovenia 3:1 (25-23, 17-25, 25-22, 25-14)

The statistics outlined a relatively balanced battle in attack - 53 points for the USA against 50 for Slovenia. The Slovenians excelled in blocks (10 against 5) and serves (7 aces against 4), but made more errors - 30 against 17. In defense, the Americans recorded 89 digs against 68 for their opponent. A. Skinner was the most effective for the USA with 15 points, supported by M. Skinner with 13. For Slovenia, Silah finished with 20, and Milosic - with 13.

Italy - Slovakia 3:0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-17)

Italy had an advantage in attack (40 against 31) and was significantly more effective in blocks - 7 against 1. The difference was also evident in serves (5 aces against 2). In defense, the indicators were almost equal - 50 digs for Italy against 51 for Slovakia. Egonu was the top scorer for the winners with 15 points, while Nervini finished with 9. For Slovakia, Sunderlikova concluded with 12 points, and Herdova with 6.

Thailand - Egypt 3:1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-15, 25-11)

Thailand scored 56 points in attack against 37 for Egypt. In blocks, the hosts had an advantage with 16 against 9, and in serves - 4 aces against 3. In digs, Egypt even recorded a slight advantage - 98 against 94. The difference in reception was also noticeable - 89 successful for Egypt against 61 for Thailand. Individually, Pimpichaya scored 19 points, and Thatdao - 16. For Egypt, Nada M. finished with 14, and Tokka - with 12.
