Dunav Ruse continues with its selection for the new season. Youth national player Ognyan Hristov will join the team, on loan for one season. Interestingly, his professional career began in the Danube city in the 2022/23 season, after which he was recruited by Beroe (Stara Zagora).
This year, Hristov became the national champion in the men's U20 category and received the individual award for best server. Shortly after, however, he was involved in a scandal after the club announced that they no longer needed his services. "He will be our property for another two years, so we decided to loan him to Dunav," said Beroe owner Zhivko Zhelev. According to him, Hristov will not be used by the club in the 2026/27 season either.
In addition to the young national, who is currently participating in the U21 World Championship in China, two more Beroe players will join Dunav - Gabriel Rumenov and Niko Indzherliev. Rumenov, who plays as an opposite hitter, was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) at this year's national finals for U20 juniors. Both will also play in Ruse on loan for one season. Indzherliev plays as a setter.
