Son of former Bulgarian national player signed with Polish grand "Skra" Bełchatów

The Polish grand PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów has finalized its roster for the 2025/26 season. The club's latest addition is 20-year-old Romanian outside hitter Daniel Cîțigoi, son of former Bulgarian national volleyball player Radostina Rangelova-Cîțigoi. This will be the young talent's second stint in Poland, having defended the colors of ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle for the past two seasons.

Daniel Cîțigoi's Journey

Daniel is well-known in PlusLiga thanks to his performances with ZAKSA. Within two years, he played 41 matches and scored 245 points. In 2023, he won the Polish Supercup with his team.

Cîțigoi took his first volleyball steps in Bucharest – first at Olimpia, then moving to Rapid. From there, his path led him to the strongest league in Poland. He is 207 cm tall, and at just 19 years old, he already made history in PlusLiga as the youngest foreigner to be awarded the MVP of the match. This happened after ZAKSA's match against Barkom, in which Cîțigoi scored 20 points.

Ambitions and Comments

Skra's new outside hitter shared upon signing:

"I am sure that a great season awaits us. I can't wait to start training and feel the atmosphere of the fans in the hall."

Club president Michał Bąkiewicz added:

"Daniel is a very ambitious and stable competitor. He is already showing great games with the Romanian national team and we believe that he will bring many benefits to our team. Although he is only 20 years old, he already has valuable experience."
