The Vietnamese Volleyball Federation (VFV) officially announced that it would file a complaint against the decision of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) from the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's U21 World Championship, held at Jawa Pos Arena in Surabaya, East Java province, Indonesia.
The reason for the discontent is the forfeiture of all group stage matches by the Vietnamese team, after two players failed a chromosomal test – the results showed discrepancies with the requirements for participation in the women's category.
VFV's Position
In an official written statement, VFV emphasizes that:
all FIVB regulations regarding player registration were complied with;
all required documents were provided before the tournament, checked and approved by FIVB, and the players in question were cleared to play;
the disqualification decision came on August 12, after the FIVB requested additional documents and introduced new conditions that were not previously stipulated.
"We are filing an official complaint through FIVB procedures and will work with the relevant Vietnamese authorities to protect the rights of the athletes and the reputation of Vietnamese volleyball. We hope the media and the public will cover the case impartially and continue to support our team," the VFV statement said.
