"Wagner Memorial 2025": Poland vs. Brazil, Argentina, and Serbia in Krakow

The traditional tournament pits some of the best volleyball powers against each other every year, but once again, Bulgaria will not participate.

The next edition of the 'Wagner Memorial' volleyball tournament will take place in Krakow at the end of August, serving this season as a preparatory stage for its participants for the World Championship in the Philippines, according to the volleyball portal BO Sport.

The 2025 tournament will, of course, feature hosts and world No. 1 Poland, as well as Brazil (3), Argentina (9), and Serbia (12), with 'Druzyna Polska' and 'Selecao' agreeing to play an additional friendly match on September 4 in Lodz.

'Wagner Memorial' has been held since 2003. Poland has won the tournament most frequently – 11 times. Russia has won twice (2004, 2014), Italy, the Netherlands, and Brazil have each won twice, while Bulgaria and Germany have won once each, with the 'lions' clinching the trophy in 2016 under Plamen Konstantinov.

Hubert Jerzy Wagner (1941–2002) was a Polish volleyball player and coach. Under his leadership, the men's national team won the 1974 World Championship and the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. He was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame.

For its part, we remind you that the World Championship in the Philippines will be held from September 12 to 28.
